Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025-01-01

TL;DR - The Short Version

  • All image processing happens in your browser - we never receive your photos
  • Your fingerprint data and analyzed URLs stay on your device
  • We use Google Analytics for basic usage statistics only
  • We don't sell, share, or monetize any personal data
  • You can use our tools without accepting analytics cookies

1. Introduction

MetaClear ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website metaclear.app. MetaClear is operated by Qbler Technolabs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our privacy tools and services.

We built MetaClear with privacy as our core principle. Unlike many web services, our tools are designed to process your data entirely within your web browser. This means your sensitive information never reaches our servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be absolutely clear, we do NOT collect, store, or have access to:

  • Your images or photos - All image processing uses your browser's Canvas API
  • Image metadata or EXIF data - This is extracted and displayed locally only
  • GPS coordinates from your photos - Location data stays in your browser
  • URLs you analyze - Link analysis happens entirely in your browser
  • Your browser fingerprint details - We show you this data, but don't store it
  • Your IP address - We don't log or store visitor IP addresses
  • Personal information - We don't require accounts or collect personal data

3. Data We Do Collect

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage statistics:

  • Page views and general navigation patterns
  • Tool usage counts (how many times each tool is used)
  • General geographic region (country-level, not precise location)
  • Device category (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Browser type and general characteristics
  • Referral sources (how visitors find our site)

This data helps us understand how our tools are used and where to focus improvements. Google Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

4. How Our Tools Work

Image Sanitizer

When you select an image, it is processed entirely in your browser. The image is read, metadata is extracted, and a clean version is created - all on your device. At no point is your image transmitted over the network. You can verify this by monitoring your browser's Network tab in Developer Tools.

Digital Footprint Analyzer

This tool detects your browser characteristics to show you what websites can learn about you. The fingerprint data is calculated and displayed in your browser only. We do not transmit or store this information.

Link Privacy Analyzer

URLs you paste are analyzed in your browser. The analysis identifies tracking parameters based on a database of known trackers. Neither the original URL nor the cleaned version is sent to our servers.

5. Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

  • Theme preference - Stores your dark/light mode choice (localStorage)
  • Consent preference - Remembers your analytics consent choice (localStorage)
  • Google Analytics cookies - Only if you consent to analytics tracking

You can use all our tools without accepting analytics cookies. The consent banner allows you to opt out, and your choice is respected.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics 4 - For anonymous usage statistics (with consent)
  • Cloudflare - For hosting and content delivery
  • OpenStreetMap - For displaying map tiles (when viewing GPS coordinates)

Each of these services has their own privacy policies. OpenStreetMap tiles are loaded only when you analyze an image with GPS data and view the map.

7. Data Security

Since we don't collect or store your personal data, there is minimal security risk. All connections to metaclear.app use HTTPS encryption. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare's secure infrastructure with DDoS protection and edge caching.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Use our tools without providing any personal information
  • Decline analytics cookies and still use all features
  • Clear your browser's localStorage to remove preferences
  • Verify our privacy claims by inspecting network requests

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal data from any users, this is inherently addressed by our privacy-first design.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
